Welcome to my website!
My name is Harrison Flynn, a 25 year old guitarist native to Martinez, California and as of January 2016, a resident of Los Angeles. At the Los Angeles College of Music in Pasadena, I completed an 18 month guitar performance education in June of 2017, gaining valuable performing experience studying under guitarists such as Brad Rabuchin (Ray Charles, Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson, Al Kooper), Adam Levy (Norah Jones, Rosanne Cash) and Bill Fowler (Pointer Sisters).
Having played guitar since I was 12 and performing in a variety of ensembles with some incredibly talented musicians in the Bay Area over the past 5 years, my style of guitar playing could be considered a cross between blues rock, '60s psychedelic rock, southern slide and Indian classical music. I am interested in and have studied and performed many styles of music such as blues, blues-rock, country, pop, classical, Indian, Latin, folk and slide.
As an old musical soul who plays from the heart, I am particularly drawn to the 1960's psychedelic era in which extended jams and improvised solos were very popular. Artists that have inspired and influenced me and my guitar playing over the years, to name a few, are: Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Rory Gallagher, Robby Krieger, George Harrison, Derek Trucks, Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, Neil Young, Mike Bloomfield, Jeff Beck, Ry Cooder, Roy Buchanan, Jerry Garcia, Mick Taylor, Peter Green, James Burton, Clarence White, Marty Stuart, Mike Campbell, Glenn Frey, Jackie Greene, U. Srinivas, John Coltrane, John Mayer & Blake Mills. Both Clapton's "woman tone" and Allman's slide playing technique have shaped my playing style immensely.
Living in the heart of Hollywood, my goal is to add to my vast performing experiences by immersing myself in the local music scene, and ultimately become a successful professional member of the music and entertainment industry as a lead guitarist or a sideman in a touring act, a studio session player, and a television, movie and advertising musician.
Just as my favorite musicians have illuminated my life with their artistry, I am striving to transform my guitar into an instrument that elevates audiences to a higher plane of consciousness while electrifying their souls and caressing their hearts.
Please peer through a kaleidoscope of my past performances on the video and photo pages on this website to get a peek at some of the amazing musicians who have allowed me to share the stage with them. If you look hard enough, perhaps you will even see my guitar gently weeping.
